Russian ministry preparing to forbid disposable plastic dishes
MOSCOW, May 7 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Natural Resources and Environment Ministry is preparing an order prohibiting sales of disposable tableware made of plastic, Minister Dmitry Kobylkin told PRIME on Tuesday.
“The Russian Natural Resources and Environment Ministry stands for reduction of environment pollution together with other states. We support the global trend for reduction of the use of plastic, and I am sure we are moving towards this. Many large retailers support us already, and we are preparing restrictions, we need time to realize and adopt (the measures),” Kobylkin said.
The E.U. said earlier it will forbid sales of disposable plastic tableware by 2021. Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said that Russia could consider doing this as well.
